Hot tub repair in Herndon and Northern Virginia
Practical diagnostics and repair for heaters, pumps, jets, control panels and leaks, on nearly every hot tub and swim spa brand.
Overview
What hot tub repair involves
Repair is the heart of our work. Joe Magnotti brings 20+ years delivering, installing, selling and servicing hot tubs. He has opened up just about every kind of cabinet, traced just about every kind of fault and learned which problems are quick fixes and which ones need a real plan.
Hot tubs combine water, electricity, heat and moving parts, so a symptom can have several possible causes. We work through them in order, starting with the simple and likely and moving toward the harder to find, so you pay for answers rather than guesses.
We service and repair nearly every hot tub and swim spa brand, in Herndon, across Northern Virginia and in Potomac, Maryland. Call or text Joe at (571) 327-0772 to get started.

Repair
Diagnostics
A good repair starts with finding the real fault. We check the power supply and breaker, water level, filters, flow through the system, sensor readings and error codes, then isolate the heater, pumps and controls one at a time. That order matters, because a clogged filter or an airlock can look just like a failed heater or pump.
You get a clear explanation of what was found, what is worn and what is fine, so you can decide with the facts in front of you.
Repair
Heaters
When a tub will not warm up, the cause is often upstream of the heater itself. Low flow, a dirty filter, a faulty pressure switch or temperature sensor, or a control issue can all shut heating down. We test the whole heating path, including the heater element and its connections, before calling any part bad.
Repair
Pumps
Circulation and jet pumps announce trouble with grinding, humming without moving water, loud vibration or weak jets. Causes include worn bearings, a failed capacitor, a leaking seal or a blockage, and each calls for a different fix. We diagnose which one you have and explain whether repair or replacement makes sense.
Repair
Jets
Weak or uneven jets can come from clogged filters, air in the lines, closed diverter valves, mineral scale or a pump that is not delivering. We work from the pump outward to find where the flow is being lost, and repair or replace worn jet internals, diverters and air controls as needed.
Repair
Control panels
Unresponsive buttons, a blank display, flashing error codes or a tub that runs on its own point to the topside panel, the circuit board or a sensor. We read the codes, test the components and separate a panel fault from a board or wiring fault, so you replace only what has actually failed.
Repair
Leaks
Leaks rarely announce where they start. Water can travel along plumbing and pool far from the source. We trace them methodically, checking unions, fittings, pump seals, heater connections, jet bodies and the shell, then repair the source rather than just drying the symptom.

The problem
What goes wrong without it
Most spa failures give a warning first. Water that takes longer to warm, a pump that has started to growl, a jet that has gone soft or a small wet patch under the cabinet are all early signs. Waiting usually turns a small repair into a larger one, because a failing pump or a slow leak puts stress on everything around it.
Safety comes first. A hot tub runs on dedicated high amperage power next to water. If you smell burning, see scorching near wiring, or the breaker keeps tripping, switch the tub off at the breaker and stop using it until it has been looked at.
Process
What a repair visit looks like
- 1
Tell Joe what is happening
Share the brand, model, age, symptoms and any error code. Joe or a member of his team talks through what you have noticed and looks at the spa in its setting.
- 2
Diagnose on site
We power down safely before opening the equipment bay, then test the likely causes in order: power, flow, sensors, pumps, heater and controls.
- 3
Explain and quote
You are shown the fault and hear what failed, why, and the repair options before work begins.
- 4
Repair, test and advise
We make the agreed repair, bring the spa back up and run it to confirm the fault is resolved. You get plain advice on maintenance and anything to watch between visits.
Helpful details
Good to know before you ask
Cleaning and repair often overlap. A tub that is dirty inside can mask a mechanical problem, and a failing pump can make water treatment pointless. We will tell you plainly where cleaning ends and repair begins, and can handle both in one visit.
Helpful details to gather before you reach out: brand, model, approximate age, the error code on the display, when the problem started and whether it happens all the time or only sometimes. A short video of the issue is often the quickest way to narrow things down.
Repair requests go fastest when you can describe the symptom in your own words. Mention whether the problem is constant or comes and goes, whether it started after a power outage, a storm or a cover change, and what the display says. If you have already tried something, say so. Joe would rather hear everything up front than start from scratch.

Joe and his team not only cleaned my hot tub to perfection but also performed some much-needed repairs on the seals after it had been winterized and turned off for an extended period… Anyone in need of expert hot tub cleaning and repair, Joe is your guy!
Previously, another hot tub company did not tell us… what our issue was with the hot tub, a type of mold which Joey recognized immediately. He fixed the problem and it hasn’t returned.
What I received from Joe was a full functions test of every facet of the hot tub, to include checking and cleaning the filter, testing all the jets and other auxiliary functions, the mode and temperature control panel, everything!
